Notes
What I have here are two Betty Boards from the Fox Theatre Atlanta 10th
and 11th April 1978. These are not "official" WBOTB masters
and sound to me like there is an extra analog generation, but they
give a pretty good impression of what the residents of Atlanta
enjoyed all those years ago.
There is talk of the dedicated folks at Betty Plaza producing a
cleaned up set at some stage in the future, but I believe these are
the best we have until then. Show details are at the end of this
mail.

Really like this show. Pretty cool that it has the SALT LAKE CITY sound check. I waited for years for them to break this cookie out. Finally I am in the

Military and I see the set list and they played it at of course SALT LAKE! Anyway, the show itself is great. I really like Donna high up in the mix and you get that and some here. Bob sounds like someone has a left hand Monkey wrench squeezing his balls every time he says 'thank you' between tunes. (NOT a tape speed issue) The banter between songs is fun and loose. Passenger is full tilt! Donna Jean hits those high notes in Passenger how anyone could not be blown away. This is the same woman who sang YOU Ain't woman ENOUGH in 1973. Donna Jean if I could I would request nobody who bitches about you be allowed into the Promised Land... And speaking of Bawdy, I am just trying to imagine what UTAH thought of Salt Lake City -that song is not exactly a Mormon recruitment tool. Weir's 2nd joke was considerably less witty then the 1st one. Weir took his own 'long ago' advice about learning jokes to tell each other- to heart. Donna gives us her best oh's and ah's for Candyman. Brent great/ Woman SMARTER! "BESIDES BRENT IS A DUDE" Listen to how Donna and Bobby are jelling vocally during MUSIC. Pretty sweet!!! Wow! tempo change towards the end of MUSIC . 2nd Set-Absolutely Monster FRANKLIN'S! Keith making his own way? Garcia in a few spots switches lyrics I am pretty sure he goes "You plant FIRE, You are going to harvest wind" Donna/ Black Peter-"Come Around" Jerry just goes off guitar wise kinda like he did MUSIC. Hot Show!

Not sure why I forogt to review this when I downloaded. This is a great show, with the aawesome, insane Franklin's as the centerpiece. It's all about

the '78 style: The guys all goin' nuts, trippin balls, yelling and singing crazy ways, playing tons of pwoer chords and everything loud and crashing. Play this one with some software reverb (www.un4seen.com). It's fuckin' awesome.
